Happy trails
Nature lovers can find respite in Toledo’s metroparks and take pride in keeping them strong, too, by participating in the volunteer trail patrol. After an informational orientation process this month, volunteers go through interviews and receive training on park rules, first aid, and CPR in anticipation of the volunteer season, which starts Wednesday, May 1. They’ll don a yellow Metroparks shirt and patrol the trails by foot, bike or horse — an Earth-lover’s way of spending time in the great outdoors while supporting the institution that makes it possible. For more information, call 419-461-0556 or visit www.metroparkstoledo.com.
