Harold Jaffe Jewelers throws a $10k curveball at a Fifth Third Field engagement

What’s more American than apple pie? Baseball— and over-the-top proposals.

Hey, if a girl’s gotta give up livin’ la vida single, she better get to feel like a princess. Plus, in the age of smartphones— where everybody’s watching— a simple “Will you marry me?” doesn’t always cut it.

So, if you want to feel like take it to the nines— truly— you might want to go the outfield to really bring your proposal, and marriage, all the way home. This is why thousands of couples head to their favorite baseball stadium every season for a good ol’ fashion American proposal. Cue the knee drop, the flushed cheeks, the screaming stranger and the elevated moods. Oh jeez, who’s blushing?

On Saturday night, Angelina Tomallo and Jake Krueger of Toledo made their shared dreams a reality. The couple competed against Regina Gonzalez, of Toledo, and Tim Butler, of Whitehouse, Ohio for the grand prize in Harold Jaffe Jewelers’ Unbox the Rocks contest. Both couples had won an earlier round to advance to this final round, where they tore through boxes on Fifth-Third Field to find the $10,000 engagement ring.

Tomallo and Krueger hit home and won the grand-prize ring, which features more than a one-carat center diamond set in white gold mounting, surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds.

Krueger dropped down to one knee in front of the game’s crowd and proposed to Tomallo in a truly fairy-tale moment.

As she said yes, fireworks exploded.

Home f#$&ing run.
