My 1st grade teacher would describe me as: Reserved. Respectful. Responsible.

Is the Kroger proposed for across from The Notre Dame campus what’s best for Toledo?

We have the planning commission in place for a reason. They are tasked with searching out these deals and being the expert on these issues. We need to listen to them. If they say it is not the best for Toledo, then it is not what’s best for Toledo.

What restrictions, if any, should there be on food truck operation in downtown Toledo?

Restrictions, like any legislation, should serve citizens, not keep them from achieving their dream. We need to honor creativity and entrepreneurs taking risks, not choke them out. We need to foster a healthy relationship between brick and mortar and mobile rather than give either one an advantage.

Do you find the wildflowers by the Toledo Zoo a hazard and unsightly or a beautiful aesthetic of urban wildlife? * Please include the phrase, “compostable matter” in your answer.

This is an issue of communication and education. We need to communicate clearly with the public and often that includes education. Creative projects from key organizations like the Zoo should bring pride to the community. I think the decision [to] mow it down stinks… you know, like compostable matter.

What will you do to avoid another “water crisis”?

As a mayor I’m not trying to “avoid” anything. Let’s solve this thing once and for all. To start, we need a second intake at an appropriate level. I have the plan to do that, but more importantly I am the type of leader that can fix it.

How necessary is it for the city to fund the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio?

It is always necessary to honor our word. We need to pay the bills we say we are going to pay. Period.

What is your stance on the recently approved cannabis ordinance?

I’m so glad it was supported. It makes sense. For, far too long our young people have been casualties in the so called “war on drugs.” It needs to stop, we need to be bigger than that.

What are your thoughts on the proposed open container entertainment districts?

I’m all for it. We have leaders in our community. Creative and passionate people looking to create new ways of recreating and having a good time. Our city government needs to pay attention to them, and ask: “How can we help keep this momentum?”

What will you do with Toledo’s streets, in 3 words?

Fill And Pave.
