The ultimate downtown Toledo public art Pokemon Go walking tour

If you clicked on this article you’re probably already knee-deep in experience points, egg incubation, lure modules and you have a pocket full of candy. We know you’re probably sore from working those leg muscles, desperately walking around your neighborhood like a completely creepy adult weirdo in anxious pursuit of Pokemon. Hey, we’re with you buddy.

Since there are literally one million sources explaining how to play this relatively easy smartphone game, we’re not even going to bother explaining what those rustling leaves mean.

What we are going to do is give you a way to spend the weekend checking out public art in downtown Toledo with friends— while also *casually* incubating your eggs, hitting mad pokéstops, and getting hella swole at tons of gyms.

We’ve picked four basic routes. Want to find Abra on Adams Street? Catch a Weedle in the Warehouse District? Find a Squirtle near the waterfront? Get judiciary with a Jigglypuff? Downtown Toledo is full of Pokestops and gyms to keep you and your dex in tip-top shape. So, whether you’re Team Instinct (uh, ok), Team Valor (lol) or Team Mystic (sup)— get go’ing.

Just remember— don’t act like a moron. Keep an eye on your surroundings. Look both ways before crossing the street. Don’t disturb other people trying to enjoy their day. Don’t try to break into a tiger exhibit at the Toledo Zoo. Don’t get arrested.

Finding Abra on Adams Street

**Cracks knuckles** Ok, let’s dive into this by starting close to home— or at The Attic— ya know, wherever the heart is? Adams Street offers shopping, art, bars, eateries and the library, which gives you plenty to work with if you’re trying to convince a non-playing friend that today is totally not about leveling up.

In less than a mile, Adams Street offers five gyms and dozens of stops. We suggest breaking this mission into two parts: stop at the Courthouse to explore the plentiful area around Government Center before returning back to the rest of your Adams Street trip. See “Get judicial with Jigglypuff” for that route.

Get judicial with Jigglypuff

You’ll probably hit the Courthouse’s gym during your romp on Adams Street. We suggest taking a break, stopping by Bleak House Coffee to energize, and postpone the rest of your Adams Street mission to get judicial.

The area around the Courthouse is filled with government-loving pokemon. Like people, pokemon come in all types— and while we aren’t sure there any are lawyers, there are definitely criminally-cute pokemon (here’s looking at you, Wigglytuff OMG). So, break out the incense and catch some critters ‘round here.

Just make sure to be respectful. This part of town is more serious than others. Don’t wander into courtrooms— they’re just filled with zubats, anyway.

Weedles in the Warehouse District

Home of the Mud Hens and plenty of old buildings, the Warehouse District is ripe for gameplay. By now, you might be a little worn out from all that leveling up, so revive with a snack, espresso or a couple of drinks on a bar patio. This district also boasts plenty of murals, sculptures, inventive bike racks and other creative objects.
