TCP Tested : Pole Dancing

Pole fit is the most unique and fun strength training I have ever done. It combines amazing feats of strength with grace, confidence and "sexy faces."

Class started at 7:30 with an awesomely sassy warm up. By 7:45, my arms were beginning to burn like I'd been lifting weights and by 7:55 I wasn't sure if I had arms or Jello molds attached to my shoulders. And I loved it! The next morning, I had notable soreness in my abs as well, which is a nice re-enforcement of a solid workout the night before. It wasn't exactly high intensity cardio, but still much more fun than boring bicep curls in a gym brimming with meat heads.

Shanika Kynard leads the Wednesday night class. She opened Exquisite Physiques after her passion for fitness led her to earn certifications in several fitness techniques, including Pole Fit.

"Kynard says she has lost 60 lbs through a combination of fitness classes, but the one that jump started everything was her first pole fit class several years ago."

The welcoming ladies of Exquisite Physiques let me join in with the Intermediate class and I was in awe of these girls. They made it look so easy! All of them were visibly fit, but after trying a couple moves myself, I realized just how in shape they really are. (Reluctantly, I allowed Amanda, our other TCP Tester and resident web guru, to put photos up for your amusement.)

Exquisite Physiques has beginners start out in Level 1 before "graduating" and moving on to Level 2 and then the Intermediate class. They also offer Zumba, boot camp, yoga and other fun and motivating fitness classes.
