Wake up, it’s time for science! After being closed for over a year thanks to COVID-19, the Imagination Station at 1 Discovery Way has announced that it will officially reopen to the public beginning on Friday, May 28.

The hands-on science center has been a staple of Toledo families’ lives since the former COSI reopened under the “Imagination Station” name in 2009.

The Station will be open from 10am-5pm that day, as well as on Saturday, May 29. Sunday will see the center opened from noon-5pm, and then the facility will also be open on Monday, May 31 with special hours from 10am-5pm.

“We are excited to deliver in-person science education in a safe and careful way to our community once again,”  said Imagination Station CEO Lori Hauser, in a press release.

As to be expected of a science-focused center like the Station, the safety of guests and staff is being made a priority. All visitors over the age of 5 will be required to wear face masks, social distancing will be observed, and some exhibits and experiences where social distancing isn’t possible are currently being kept closed.

In addition, the reopening of Imagination Station means audiences will finally be able to see a film in the KeyBank Discovery Theater. Beginning construction in 2019, the long-delayed, state-of-the-art theater will finally open to the public, featuring a 58-foot screen and 3D compatibility.

Other changes to the location will be unveiled to the public on May 28, including a remodeled concourse, a new location for the Imagination Station gift shop “Science,Go” and a larger Barry Bagels location on site.
