Spiros Cocoves Wins Liberty and Justice Award

Spiros Cocoves, a longtime local litigator, has been named the first recipient of the Maumee Valley Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (MVCDLA) Liberty and Justice Award. The new annual award recognizes “the contributions and accomplishments of an attorney that has had a lasting impact on Liberty and Justice within the criminal defense profession.” Cocoves, who has been practicing law on his own since 1988, graduated in from the University of Toledo’s law program in 1985. Working a clerkship for Lackey, Nusbaum, Harris, Reny and Torzewski, Cocoves also spent time working in the auto industry and has been a champion for federal sentencing guidelines, drug law and a staunch supporter of the Bill of Rights. The public is invited to witness the reception of this prestigious honor.
