They say necessity is the mother of all invention — and hunger may be the most inspiring necessity of all. The Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) is celebrating culinary ingenuity with their Northwest Ohio Food Development Contest, which kicks off in early April. Anyone with an idea for a food product they think will fly off grocery store shelves is welcome to submit their idea through the organization’s website, ciftinnovation.org. Finalists with a promising concept will be interviewed by a panel of experts and share a sample of their creations, with the winner earning consultation and support from CIFT to make their food entrepreneur dreams a reality. Past winners include Grumpy’s owner Dustin Hostetler’s poppy seed dressing and Jonathan Bush’s Not Just Cookies. For more info, call 419-535-6000 or visit ciftinnovation.org. —AO
