Fresh water cooking

Central American, Mexican, Caribbean and Mexican-American street vendors, bodegas and eateries offer agua fresca (Spanish for ‘fresh water’). This refreshing, non-alcoholic summer beverage has become a favorite Latin export in recent years. Prepare and sample several infusions, including hibiscus tea, horchata, mango, melon, watermelon and tamarind, during the Aguas Frescas Cultural Cooking Class at Nana’s Kitchen, part of the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center. To register, call 419-241-1655. $10. 3-4:30pm. Sunday, June 18.
