Coming Up Green Claddaugh

Claddagh Irish Pub at Westfield Franklin Park serves up authentic Irish cuisine and atmosphere year-round, but on St. Patrick’s Day, they’ve got the help of a genuine son of the Emerald Isle. Manager Mark Kelly came to the area from Ireland in early January, and is thrilled to be onboard. “I can’t believe how friendly people are,” Kelly says. “I’m having a ball.” He even has kind words for the Ohio weather, saying he’ll be happy “as long as the sun is shining for Patrick’s Day.” Claddagh has plenty in store for the big day, with a 2500 square foot party tent. Irish breakfast is served at 8am, and live music begins at noon with Extra Stout. The Bridges take the stage from 4-7pm, and The Danger Brothers play at 8:30pm, with DJs keeping the tunes going between live acts. Savor a Guinness and enjoy a Bushmill’s burger, with an Irish whisky glaze and cheese sauce. Irish dancers and bagpipers provide entertainment all day long, with even a couple of leprechauns. The usual shenanigans. I might dress up myself,” Kelly says. $5 admission. The Sylvania Ave. side of the mall. 419-472-1414. www.claddaghirishpubs.com
