#youwilldobetterintoledo has been the buzzing message on social media for the past two years, but the sentiment’s story started 101 years ago and will enter a new chapter tonight. Mayor D. Michael Collins has announced that the City of Toledo will begin the installation of a series of 55 signs with the 101-year-old slogan, “You Will Do Better in Toledo.”
The first of the series will be unveiled at 1:30pm, Wednesday, December 17 at the intersection of North Reynolds Rd. and Heatherdowns Blvd. Other locations for the signs have not been announced, but are slated to be installed at different entry points to our city, welcoming guests and reminding residents of Toledo’s many benefits.
The press conference will kick off the second year of “You Will Do Better in Toledo Day.” Inspired by the slogan chosen out of 7,000 entries submitted in 1913, the day is meant to shine a light on Toledo’s unique qualities just as the original, large electrical sign did. Toledo-lovers are invited to Wesley’s Bar in UpTown Toledo at 5pm on Thursday, December 17 to celebrate our city’s history and exciting future as home to many supportive, friendly and motivated people.
