Vistula Historic District Launching New Pocket Park

Our city’s oldest neighborhood, the Vistula Historic District, will soon be home to a new pocket park, named after James Colbert, a long-time neighborhood resident and community volunteer who passed away in February 2017. The Historic District received the donated vacant land, at the corner of N. Huron and Chestnut Streets, by the Salem Lutheran Church to create a new place to hang out in the neighborhood.

People came together on July 28 for a block party and dedication ceremony sponsored by the church, with support from the Art’s Commission and the city’s Sustainability Commission, a group of local advocates educating and promoting sustainability.
