Mom jeans find a home

Give your mom jeans a second life with Eco Erek's Denim and Shoe Drive 2012. Curtice, Ohio’s Erek Hansen, the 11-year-old environmentalist whose passion for recycling has led to shout-outs from Huffington Post columnists, started the drive in 2009. Jeans are shredded and reworked into housing insulation for homes damaged or destroyed by natural disasters. Shoes will be gathered for recycling as well, as part of an effort to lessen landfill waste. Collections for denim and shoes take place on Sat., June 23 from 10-4pm at The Future Wave, 3324 Navarre Ave., Oregon. Visit www.ecoerek.org for more info.
