Dark and Dirty
Keep your mouth closed at the Black Swamp Night of the Dead Run on October 10 and 11. This phenomenally muddy and eerie event is hosted by Adrenaline Rush Sports, the entity that crafted the permanent Black Swamp Mud Run Course at the Oak Harbor Fairgrounds. This 5K obstacle course embraces the area’s local history, incorporating the black swamp mud from the Portage River. Black Swamp mud is rumored to be the hungriest—read suck your shoes off and hold you down—mud in the state. In addition, the permanence of the course offers participants a more challenging experience. According to ARS Business Consultant Ryan Watson, the most popular among the twenty-four obstacles is the Gladiator. Once runners climb to the top of an angled wall, they must traverse a netted platform and then rappel off another angled wall, as it snares participants in spider-web-like rubber, woven along a tree-lined trail. This nighttime event will be further enhanced with blacklights and neon glow lights. Spectators are welcome.
For more info, registration forms, start times, race fees and future events go to adrenalinerushsports.net. Day-of registration is also available.
