You live near the largest river in the Great Lakes Region — this is your chance to be proud of it. It's going to happen this fall, as the Maumee Bay Brewing Company presents the first Maumee Bay River Festival on Sunday, September 30. It's a chance to party, but also to learn all about the waterways that are the economic and environmental heart of the region. River rides on the Sandpiper excursion boat will be available at a low price, and the Metroparks will be offering tours of the future Middlegrounds Metropark along the riverbank. There will be plenty of Maumee Bay food available, and a special festival brew, along with live music all afternoon and into the evening featuring local favorites like Pat Lewandowski, Rachel Richardson and the Antivillains. It's amazing that nobody's thought of this before — isn't it time we celebrated our most precious resource?
$5 admission. 1-10pm. 27 Broadway St. 419-290-1259.
