University of Toledo Performing Arts Presents “The Pillowman”

There’s nothing strange about fiction feeling “pulled from the headlines,” but what about when the headlines begin to resemble works of fiction? In Irish playwright Martin McDonagh’s 2003 work, The Pillowman, real life resembles the short stories of writer Katurian, who lives in a police state and, of course, trouble follows. Do the bizarre child murders happening in his town only coincidentally resemble his short stories, or are his works of fiction not so fictional after all? The University of Toledo Department of Theatre & Film performs this black comedy, mature audiences only.
