What Are You Doing Here? It’s a question you may have been asked, and also the title of Laina Dawes’ 2012 book about the unsung history of black women in heavy metal. The book, relays Dawes’ experiences in a scene dominated by white men. Dawes will deliver a keynote address at Bowling Green State University’s International Conference on Heavy Metal and Popular Culture on Saturday, April 6. The event will also feature addresses by Robert Walser and Keith Kahn-Harris, as well as a screening of the film Motörhead Matters. Free. 11am.
