Giant Inflatable Colon visits Fifth Third Field

Get ready for a dose of interactive information during the Scranton/Wilkes Barre vs Toledo Mud Hens ballgame. As part of the 2016 Big Colon Tour, the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) is making a stop in Toledo with an inflatable walk-through colon stationed outside of Fifth Third Field’s Main entrance. Before the first pitch of tomorrow night’s Mud Hens game, the public will have a larger-than-life “colon experience,” as the installation allows visitors to walk through and see the different stages of colon cancer, each represented by a different color.

More than one million people in the United States have a history of colon cancer and about one in 20 Americans will be diagnosed with colon cancer in their lifetime— which is the second leading cause of death by cancer in the nation.

Colon cancer survivor and CCA volunteer, Edward Leigh, and physician Dr. Glenn M. Hall, Jr. from ProMedica Physicians Colorectal Surgery will be on hand at the inflatable colon to answer questions.

The tour, sponsored by Bayer, aims to raise public awareness of colon cancer by encouraging early detection and timely treatment, while also raising money for research.

6-8pm Wednesday, June 15.
