Poems by Langston Hughes will inspire five expressive movements of music during the Toledo Choral Society’s Celebration for Art Tatum. The annual tribute to the Toledo jazz legend, composed by University of Toledo professor Dr. David Jex, features world-renowned guest pianist Alvin Waddles, a Detroit native. Proceeds benefit UT’s Bernard Sanchez Memorial Scholarship, which honors the beloved professor and performer’s 50 year legacy.
