My 1st grade teacher would describe me as: Creative. Independent. “Chatty”.

Is the Kroger proposed for across from The Notre Dame campus what’s best for Toledo?

While I do not support the current plan for the new Kroger store, I believe we can find a creative solution that meets the needs of the Sisters of Notre Dame, the community and Kroger. I pledge to work to that end. I support wise land use, with sustainable growth as the goal.

What restrictions, if any, should there be on food truck operation in downtown Toledo?

A positive first step, rather than to restrict the trucks, is to help them expand their market throughout the city. I have proposed a registry that will be posted on the city’s website, making it easier for neighborhoods, businesses and organizations to include food trucks in their events.

Do you find the wildflowers by the Toledo Zoo a hazard and unsightly or a beautiful aesthetic of urban wildlife? * Please include the phrase, “compostable matter” in your answer.

The wildflower display reflects Toledo Zoo’s role in education and conservation. At TEDx Toledo, Ryan Walsh, from Wild Ohio, discussed the role of wildflowers in increasing native pollinators and biodiversity, reversing the 90% reduction in the Monarch Butterfly population, and reducing maintenance costs, while providing an excellent source of compostable matter.

What will you do to avoid another “water crisis”?

Toledo’s responsibility is to complete two critical projects; a $350 million upgrade underway at Collins Park Water Treatment Facility as well as Toledo Waterways Initiative, a $521 million program that will prevent waste water overflow from entering our waterways. Additionally, I will join in advocacy with other communities in the Western Lake Erie Basin.

How necessary is it for the city to fund the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio?

County Commissioners, City of Toledo, Municipal Judges, mental health and addiction service providers are engaged in a collaborative effort, utilizing a MacArthur Grant, to reduce incarceration and transform our criminal justice system. Various reasonable options have been suggested to settle the funding standoff. Swift resolution will ensure that this important process continues and our criminal justice system is stable.

What is your stance on the recently approved cannabis ordinance?

It is my intention to respect the clear will of the people. We need to focus our enforcement energy on opiates. Lives are being lost in our community to opiate addiction.

What are your thoughts on the proposed open container entertainment districts?

Open container districts have been economic development drivers in many cities, however a vigorous community conversation must take place to determine that the district will be beneficial for all stakeholders.

What will you do with Toledo’s streets, in 3 words.

Invest, Restore, Bikeable.
