Lineup: The Late Great Lucian Townes- Guitar, vocal, piano, organ, kazoo, banjo, harmonica
Day job: Hustlin’. When and how did your band form? I started writing about seven years ago after high school and have written almost 300 tunes. Just put out my first album called “Ivory Tusks.”
List some of your influences: Anything that can take my mind off of life for a little while or that can put a clear picture or scene into my head.
Do you have a favorite kind of fan/audience member (loud, dancing, etc.)? Anyone that gets drunk enough to want to dance on an unstable
table and not worry about falling when everyone else is scared to death (that girl was a trip).
Have a favorite original song or cover song to play? Whether I play solo or with my band (Bords of Smorgas) I always like to close the show with a crazy, heavy, slide blues tune called “Good Man Fall.”
What’s your most embarrassing moment on stage? When that same chick that was dancing on the table grabbed the bass and thought she was playing it, then she made out with like five guys after (not embarrassing for me but had to be for her the next day).
Do you have a favorite venue? Any street corner where the traffic is heavy. I love the strange looks the people give.
Please describe your sound: Have so many songs it’s hard to narrow down one style (variety is what I strive for; I hate going to shows or listening to albums where every song is the same). But they range from folk, rock, blues, country, psychedelic, probably almost any type of music there is, I’ve written something in it.
Any upcoming shows? Sunday, February 6, at Bozarts.
Describe your live performance in 5 words or less: Euphoria through words and sound.
