No. The plan includes not just a significantly larger store but also several lots for additional stores, making the already congested traffic even worse. Also, the zone change which City Council must approve is permanent; if the store ever moved, the new classification permits commercial development much too intense for the area.
What restrictions, if any, should there be on food truck operation in downtown Toledo?
They must comply with all health and safety requirements, and must not impede traffic during times and areas of high volume traffic.
Do you find the wildflowers by the Toledo Zoo a hazard and unsightly or a beautiful aesthetic of urban wildlife? * Please include the phrase, “compostable matter” in your answer.
The wildflower selection was not nearly as beautiful or attractive as it could have been. A better selection for that flower “garden” can add significant beauty and color to the Anthony Wayne Trail.
What will you do to avoid another “water crisis”?
I would retain national water scientists to visit Toledo to study our situation, work with local officials and prepare a plan to resolve the problems. I would implement the suggestions and strongly encourage John Kasich, other Great Lakes governors and Canadian officials to participate in a joint effort.
How necessary is it for the city to fund the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio?
My concern is where the city will find the money to fund both CCNO and a new county jail. This question needs more thoughtful discussion.
What is your stance on the recently approved cannabis ordinance?
I am in favor of decriminalizing small amounts and I strongly encourage more research for medicinal uses.
What are your thoughts on the proposed open container entertainment districts?
Before giving a “yes” or “no”, I would like to study data from other cities which have adopted similar arrangements, to be comfortable that adjacent residents and businesses were not adversely affected and that there was no increase in crime.
