Celebrate The Sandpiper’s 40th birthday with J&M Cruise Lines on Monday, Aug. 19 beginning at 6 pm.
Enjoy a 2-hour cruise down the Maumee River on the 100-passenger cruise vessel to celebrate 40 years of the boat floating down the river. Attendees will also get the chance to sing “Happy Birthday” to celebrate the boat’s exciting milestone.
“The Sandpiper is OFFICIALLY over the hill!” event organizers wrote on the Facebook event description.
After The Sandpiper was built in Maumee in 1984, she spent most of her time afloat in the Maumee River, however, the boat has also visited Monroe, MI and many Detroit Rivers.
The boat is constructed of welded steel and is inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard annually.
Tickets to The Sandpiper’s birthday bash cost $35. Attendees are encouraged to bring a cooler to keep their beverages cold during the two-hour boat tour. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own beverages.
“We have such a fun time sharing our boats with The Toledo area,” The Sandpiper event site says. “The Sandpiper has lived her entire life on this river and has served it well. We hope you come out to enjoy us for the festivities. Even if you just want to come for the cake! We’d appreciate you wishing her another 40+ years here with us!”
