One of the community's corporate pillars is doing its part to safeguard the environment, as Fifth Third Bank breaks ground on a new state-of-the-art banking center in July. It's not just any bank, though — it's a green building specifically engineered to reduce its impact on the earth, the first of its kind in the area. The new building will incorporate a reflective roof to reduce electric use, along with landscaping and kitchen and bathroom facilities designed to drastically reduce water consumption. The bank will be built on a vacant lot (formerly home to a Big Lots) at 4706 N. Summit Street. The structure will replace the nearby, current Fifth Third branch which was built in 1955.
