Creating an outlet

The painted and sculpted expressions of recovery created by locals suffering from mental illness will be on display at the Juried Art Show and Sale at the University of Toledo Medical Center. The event, hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Greater Toledo (NAMI), gives these artists the chance to share with the community their works, which explore themes of recovery. Viewers can purchase some of the pieces, with 20% of each sale donated to NAMI, an organization that aims to improve the quality of life for children and adults who struggle with mental illness by providing free services. The art show will be part of the greater NAMIWalk fundraising event on Saturday, May 12th. 9am. University of Toledo Medical Center campus, 3000 Arlington Ave. 419-383-4000. www.namitoledo.org.
