In “Night Ride Along the River,” Nathan Elias writes: “I could have died / coasting down / River Road, / firing your gun / at the sky, but somehow / I knew you / wouldn’t / let me / fall.” A potent scene, the image of a fast drive down the winding road adjacent to the Maumee River is one of the writer’s memories of growing up in Toledo.
Now living in Florida, Elias originally moved from Toledo to Los Angeles to pursue a career in fiction, poetry, and film.
