A new literary venue takes shape, as Sylvania’s Chandler Café teams up with veteran area poet Michael Hackney on Thursday, February 5. Hackney is holding a “relaunch” party for his 2007 book Midwestern Shoes, a collection of essays on the writing process, mixed with original poetry. He will also be selling a new chapbook, “The Downturn,” a narrative poem dealing with his struggle with bipolar disorder. “I really want people just to come out and have some wine and talk about their own writing,” Hackney says. Thursday, Februrary 3. 7-9pm. 5648 Main St., Sylvania.
