The 17th Annual All Good Music Festival, historically jam-band friendly with a diverse mix of genres and characters, lived up to it’s reputation. The spirit of the Grateful Dead resonated throughout the weekend from the Dark Star Orchestra on Friday to Furthur on Saturday night, and even a duet between Grace Potter and the Nocturnal’s and Furthur guitarist Bob Weir.
Potter, an All Good veteran, might have summed the weekend up best when she declared during her set, “It doesn't matter how muddy or rainy we get, as long as we’re together.”
Despite the wind, rain, lightning and thunder, All Good Music Festival 2013 kept on trucking and the inclement weather didn't seem to dampen the spirits of festival goers.
After the rain delay on Friday afternoon, the Everyone Orchestra, comprised of musicians from various bands at the festival, used their raucous energy and synchronised sounds to draw out the crowd from their hiding places during the downpour.
Unfortunately, some festival-goers were disappointed in Dark Star’s set on account of the poor sound quality. It was the first set on that stage after the rain/wind delay, so they might have still been working out the kinks, but either way, it was difficult to hear.
Other than that, the complaints for the most part were that The Werks 45 minute set Saturday night was entirely too short and that Pretty Lights was “so amazing, that it was too much to handle,” said one ecstatic hula hooper.
