Stepdads are always awkward on some level—Do I call him dad? What happened to my real dad? Are this new guy’s motives entirely pure?—and the band Stepdad doesn’t aim to change that. What they will do, when they stop in Toledo, Saturday, September 28, is incite spontaneous dancing, top-of-your-lungs sing-alongs, and good, new-fashioned fun. Formed in 2009, this Chicago quintet initially found Internet fame with what would become the official theme song of “Axe Cop,” the popular webcomic. A critically acclaimed EP earned them a spot in the 2012 Warped Tour lineup, and the band has gained a strong following with their debut LP, “Wildlife Pop.” Characterized by electronic compositions, energetic melodies and catchy hooks, the album includes the band’s hits My Leather, My Fur, My Nails and Pick & Choose. While the lads of Stepdad aren’t your real dad, their infectious music will easily win your heart. Performing w/ Sea of Bears and Flamtronic.
