Mark your calendars, 419 music fans! On Dec. 22, the Gospel & Blues band Nikki D & The Sisters of Thunder will appear on stage at Duwey’s (Vibe Lounge at 710 S Reynolds Rd.) presented by AMP Concerts.
The Sunday Christmas Brunch promises to be an unforgettable day of high-energy gospel, soul, & blues. Known for their mesmerizing performances & genre-blending sound, this talented group has been making waves in the local music scene & more. They played the first ever AMP Concerts production “Solar Express 2024” out at the Poe Road Music Sanctuary this past April & the band is eager to work with AMP’s team again.
Nikki D & The Sisters of Thunder has quickly earned a reputation for their bold sound & captivating live shows. The band, fronted by powerhouse lead guitarist Nikki D, features a mostly female lineup that brings an unparalleled intensity to their performances. The band includes guitarist Nikki D Brown, Belinda Orebe, Gwendolyn Brown, Christian Brown, Tomika Webb, Gary Black, and Darwyn Dillard. Together, they have created a dynamic blend of Gospel, rock, blues, and soul that pushes musical boundaries while remaining rooted in authenticity. Their unique style is Gospel with Blues riffs & grooves; that is eloquently punctuated by Nikki’s soulful & electrifying guitar playing!

The band’s upcoming performance at Duwey’s is expected to be nothing short of legendary. Duwey’s opened June 2024 & creates a scrumptious & affordable menu & also has special event curations for patrons to enjoy.
Duwey’s, an intimate venue known for its vibrant atmosphere & top-notch sound system, is the perfect place to catch Nikki D & The Sisters of Thunder in action. With a capacity of just 330, the venue allows fans to experience the band’s raw energy up close, creating an electric, but intimate connection between the band and the audience. The venue books & supports local, regional, & national acts of all different genres & the venue can also be rented out for private events thru the owner Michael Duhart.
For Nikki D, she is used to the spotlight. In 2016, Guitar World Magazine described her as “The Jimi Hendrix of Sacred Steel.” Known for her musical prowess on the pedal steel guitar this band gives music lovers of all demographics a show they won’t see anywhere else in Toledo! The comparison stems from her willingness to experiment with vocal-like riffs & runs. The band has become known for powerfully moving, revival-like meeting performances. Their music they create has allowed them to open/support artists such as The Rance Allen Group, Ceelo Green, Sarah Mclachlan, & Rickey Lee Jones!
