Local Beer, Local Folk, Local Fun at Oliver Hazard Day

Local folk trio Oliver Hazard has recently been steering the development of the first ever fully local craft beer festival to come to Waterville. Rallying the cross-promotion of Toledo area artisans, musicians, and business owners, the city of Waterville is presenting a great time for listening to some knee-slapping serenades.

Beer You Say?

Nicholas Scott of Wild Side Brewing Company teamed up with the trio to convince some local brew scene heavy hitters to put some skin in the game, along with Maumee Bay Brewing Co. and Earnest Brew Works. Bright new faces to the local brewing scene include Patron Saint Brewery (Toledo), 4KD Crick Brewery (Defiance), and Bowling Green Beer Works (B.G.). All funds raised through beer sales will be donated to The White House Library – which is currently located at 10651 Waterville St. in a double-wide trailer, with high hopes to expand! To compliment your flights, food trucks will line the streets.

Folk You Say?

Headliners Oliver Hazard will finish the evening’s schedule but they’ve brought local roots rock savant Vester Frey, and chamber pop ensemble Violent Bloom to get things started.  Local producers make sure you get the production value and performance you deserve. Big Foot Studio, who recorded the Hazard boys’ first album –34 N. River– will be engineering the sound, the Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission will provide some stellar lighting, and local production company Frogtown Glassroots will supply the stage. Toledo-based  On The Radar Podcast’s host, Chris “Peapod” Daher will emcee the entire evening.

Raffle away

Would a craft beer folk music street festival be complete without a sponsored raffle? Vendors from Toledo to Waterville have donated items for the 1$/ticket raffle, ongoing throughout the festival. Prizes will include gift baskets provided by Jupmode and Firenation Glass, and a mystery pick record pack from Culture Clash Records, and a box of cigars from Waterville’s -and home to the first ever Oliver Hazard performance- Third Street Cigar, Local vendors such as Beans Blooms and Angel 101 will contribute  gift cards to the raffle as well. Other Sponsors for the day include favorite Waterville pub Mad Anthony’s and Cocina de Carlos, sister restaurant to Uptown Toledo favorite Carlos’ Poco Loco.

Come together for one night to sing, dance, and drink the night away on the not so quiet streets of Waterville with the people that make it all worth your while.
