Pontiac Preserve Opens as New Waterfront Park Along Maumee River

The City of Toledo has opened Pontiac Preserve, a new public waterfront park along the Maumee River at 1300 N. Summit St., transforming a former disposal facility into a restored natural destination. Located near the mouth of the Maumee River, the 59-acre preserve features a one-mile walking trail, overlook decks, and parking while highlighting the site’s history. Toledo.oh.gov

The City of Toledo dedicated a street honoring the late Lee and Vernon Liddell, owners of Liddell’s Barbershop, a longtime staple on Dorr Street at 921 Junction Ave.

The City of Toledo and Al Peake & Sons are launching a pop-up produce market at Swayne Field, 3030 Monroe St. at Detroit Ave. The pop-up will increase access to affordable, nutritious food, featuring seasonal locally-grown produce. Saturdays 10am-3pm through Oct. 24.

$20 Million Federal Investment in Uptown

The City of Toledo has secured a $20 million federal RAISE grant to support the $57 million
Connecting Toledo Neighborhoods to Opportunity project in Uptown. The project will improve 38 city blocks with roadway reconstruction, new water and sanitary lines, safer pedestrian connections, streetscape trees, lighting and enhanced walking and biking infrastructure.

BGSU’s Jerome Library Recognized Among 15 Standout Library Projects Nationwide

Jerome Library at Bowling Green State University was recognized among 15 standout library projects nationwide as part of the 2026 Library Design Showcase from American Libraries, the flagship magazine of the American Library Association. The recognition highlights the library’s $1 million restoration of the iconic nine-story relief mural created by Ohio artist Don Drumm in 1966.
