NAMIWalks Greater Toledo

A powerful show of community support returns this May as NAMI Greater Toledo hosts its annual NAMIWalks event. Bringing together advocates, families and individuals impacted by mental illness, the walk raises awareness and funds for free, local programs, education and support services. Participants can choose between a one-or three-mile route while connecting with others and championing the message of “Mental Health for All.” Free. Encouraging conversation, reducing stigma and reminding the community that no one walks alone. Sat, May 16, 10am-12pm. (Registration at 9am). Toledo Cancer Research Symposium

Cutting-edge research and collaboration take center stage as the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences hosts its annual Toledo Cancer Research Symposium. Bringing together scientists, clinicians and students, the event highlights the latest advances in cancer biology, treatment and innovation. This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Zhijian “James” Chen, will explore tumor biology, drug development and cancer immunology. Free. Thurs. May 14, 8am-2pm. Ecosystem Series – Fire

The final installment of the Ecosystem Series brings together mindfulness and environmental action in a meaningful, hands-on experience. Hosted by Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful in partnership with Toledo Mindfulness Institute, the “Fire” session includes a yoga flow followed by a community tree planting. Sat, May 16, 10-11:30am.
