Sister Cities Open Golf Tournament in Ferrara and Sylvania

The Sister Cities Open Golf Tournament took place the first week of October.

The tournament began Oct. 2 and teams played over a two-day, 42-hole challenge in both Italy and Toledo.

Five teams of two played between Ferrara and Sylvania during the first edition of the tournament. The second edition will take place as part of the Italian Bowl week in late June 2025.

The Northwest Ohio team players were Chris Bosinger, Aubrey Hornsby, Mike McCarthy, Josh Jones, Erik Kyle, Louis Fahrbach, JP Ankney, Pat Giammarco, Jeremy Nordquist and Warren Blazy.

Sister Cities Northwest Ohio contingent received an official welcome by the Ferrara Mayor and his staff at the city hall, and had a chance to try Ferrara’s restaurants while visiting the city.

Sister City Representatives who played the 2023 Italian Bowl celebrity tournament were impressed with the local golf courses in our area and decided in 2023 to bring the “Sister Cities Open” to the Sylvania Country Club golf course, deciding the Ryder Cup style challenge was most appropriate for the open.

“Most of the time sister cities agreements are words on paper that struggle to be transformed into tangible results, but thanks to the resilience that is part of Nick Eyde’s and my entrepreneurial DNA we’re demonstrating that organizing events such as the Italian Bowl and the Sister Cities Open is only a matter of vision and commitment,” Raffaello Pellegrini said, Owner, Founder and Chairman of PRO SPORT Estense, the sport marketing company that organized and sponsored the Open.
