Bikram Yoga, the stretch-and-sweat session that’s the rage of granola-eating yogis and high performance athletes alike, arrives in Toledo. Bikram Yoga Studio, started by technique devotee Kelly Williams, opened its doors April 20th with classes available seven days a week. Williams, a former high school athlete and self-proclaimed ex-gym queen, says she finally found physical fulfillment when she discovered the practice, and has been trained by namesake Bikram Choudhury himself. Practitioners sweat it out in a room heated to about 105 degrees (meant to keep muscles at optimum flexibility) while holding a series of 26 postures (like the standing tree pose). Classes are open to people of all shapes, ages and athletic inclinations, so if you can stand the heat, get in the studio.
