Feeling 'blue'

Celebrate the endangered Karner Blue butterfly — and the multitude of azure shades abloom in the Oak Openings region this spring — during Blue Week from Saturday, May 11 to Sunday, May 19 (see pg 29 for more details). Events include a blue light bonfire, a butterfly hike at Kitty Todd Preserve, and a barn dance at Wheeler Farms. A highlight of the event will be the Blue Week Soiree Dinner, where Ann Arbor’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum director Bob Grese will discuss “Conservation by Design: Prairie-style Gardens Past and Present” on Friday, May 17 at 6:30pm at the Toledo Botanical Gardens. For more information or to register for an event (locations also include Olander Park and Secor Metropark), visit oakopenings.org. —AO
