The University of Toledo Presents Steven J. Athanas’ “Life After Life”

The University of Toledo presents “Life After Life” at the Carlson Library on the University of Toledo Main Campus.

The exhibit is a “one man of show of ‘pomes,’ paintings and a couple o’ mobiles,” by local artist, Steven J. Athanas. The exhibit will run from Aug. 26 to Oct. 18.

Athanas has rocked the Toledo entertainment scene for over 50 years. Prior to visual arts, he was in several bands including The Homewreckers, The Raisin Band and The Best.

Now, Athanas spends his time creating as a visual artist and “pomeist.”

“Athanas has lived a creator’s life since his early teens. Originally a stage and musical performer, he moved into the visual arts, allowing his quirky imagination room to roam across various media such as drawing, watercolor, and sculpture with an eye on the quirkiness of the English language,” University of Toledo wrote on their website. “His work, whether 2D or 3D, attempts to let others into his vision of the world, with all its challenges, darkness and smatterings of beauty.”

The show is free and open to the public. There will be an artists reception on Sept. 12, 6 pm to 8 pm where attendees can meet with Athanas and ask questions about the art.
