Whether looking for a fun day trip or a place to spend the weekend, Put-in-Bay is the place to be but getting there is not as simple as a car ride. No bridge or tunnel connects the island, so visitors have to go across on a boat.
Two ferries go back and forth from the island throughout the day, the Jet Express and Miller Ferry. The Jet Express has docks in Port Clinton and Sandusky. The Port Clinton ferry runs from 8:30 am to 11 pm Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, it runs from 8:30 am to 11:45 pm. Tickets range from $3.25 to $38.99. The Sandusky ferry runs from 9:15 am to 10 pm daily with ticket prices ranging from $3.25 to $23.25.
The Miller Ferry runs from 6 am to 9:30 pm every day through Sept. 8. Tickets are $9 for adults and $1.50 for children 6-11. They also provide vehicle transportation, cars are $23, motorcycles are $16 and bicycles are $2.50.

Once on the island visitors can rent golf carts if they are unable to bring their cars over on the ferry. There is the Golf Cart Depot, Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Center, Island Club Golf Carts and Put-in-Bay Condos Golf Cart Rental. There are four-passenger, six-passenger and eight-passenger golf carts.
Daily and hourly rentals are available though rates may be different on weekdays and weekends. Most rental companies require the renter to be 18 years of age to rent a golf cart. It is recommended to book the golf cart in advance because they sell out quickly in the summer.
There are also many places to stay once you are on the island including resorts, hotels and Air B&Bs. Some of the recommended hotels and rentals are Island Club Home Rentals, Commodore Resort, Put-in-Bay Waterfront Condos, Victory Station Hotel and more.
