A beautiful reminder of people whose lives have been lost due to AIDS, the Memorial Quilt stands as a symbol of the fight to eradicate the disease, a tool for educating people about it, and a statement against the prejudice that is still all too common against those who are HIV positive. Since it began in 1985, more than 48,000 3-by-6-foot memorial panels have been added to the quilt. About 15 of those panels will be on display through Friday, December 6.
