Political Correctness Retards QB
Ok, the all-out Super Bowl media blitz is in full force. Every player, along with preparing for the biggest game of their lives, has to face a barrage of questions and most of them have nothing to do with football. Well, this week Joe Flacco drew criticism for saying the idea of playing the Super Bowl in cold weather stadiums would be retarded. He immediately apologized and said he shouldn't have used that word. But, why not? Retard has more than one connotation. The word "retard" can mean to delay progress or development. Anyway interesting argument. Doesn't referring to the word "retard' as the "r-word" retard the advancement of our vocabulary?
Cried the Raven Nevermore
Flacco's teammate Ray Lewis avoided questions about a recent Sports Illustrated story which claims Lewis used a banned substance in his recovery. The substance is a spray made from, of all things, deer antlers. Lewis isn't talking, he's focused on the game, but this may play out later.

Drivin' on up
Switching from football to the automotive industry, Chrysler posted huge profits last year which is good news for the area's workforce. It turns out the government investment has proved to be a good one. With so much bad news when it comes to the economy, this may be an indicator we're getting back on track.
