Next time you have an opportunity to be at an event in the Huntington Center, give your seat an extra pat on the armrest. The arena, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, has just been named a finalist for Medium Capacity Venue by the Academy of Country Music— for the second straight year.
Last year, the award was won by the Ascend Amphitheatre in Nashville, TN, but like the Stanley Cup finals, 2017 isn’t going to be Nashville’s year. Also in the running, along with the Huntington Center are the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook in Gilford, NH, Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, SD, the Ford Center – Evansville, IN and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. Look for the Red Rock to be our biggest competition for the top honors, while the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook and the Denny Sanford Premier Center are fellow repeat nominees.
The winner will be announced on August 23 at the ACM Honors in Nashville. While the venue award announcement will likely not make the broadcast, tune in on social media for updates.
“We are excited to be nominated once again. We are hoping to secure a win this year, but feel privileged just to be nominated by the ACM,” said Marketing Manager Troy Roeske.
Huntington Center recently was named industry magazine Venues Today’s Top Midwest Venue in the nation in the 5,000-10,000 seat capacity.
Country music performers who’ve stopped in at the Huntington Center recently include Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Brad Paisley, The Dixie Chicks, Luke Bryan and Keith Urban.
Yee-haw, H.C., keep up the good work!
