In 2019, when asked to play a show at the Luna Pier Beach Café, local band 2 Left Missing‘s front man Patrick agreed, despite having no band to speak of. Joined by Mike, Kevin, Kris and Chris, the band was born to play that first show. (The group prefers to be credited only by their first names.)
Later that year, 2 Left Missing had Arista (of Red Carpet Crashers) join the band, and she performed with them until April 2021. During that time, the group grew substantially, adding a more diverse setlist and increasing their following.
Meet the Band
2 Left Missing is a Toledo area cover band playing everything from 50s to modern rock, sporting white shirts and black ties as a throwback to the early years of rock ‘n’ roll with a sound rooted in the edginess of Post-Punk and 90s alternative.
Patrick, lead vocalist and rhythm guitar, credits his father as his biggest influence growing up, listening to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, Buddy Holly, The Beatles and Zappa. When he was 22, he had two fingers on his left hand partially amputated due to an industrial accident, which inspired the name for the band.
Mike (aka The Doctor), lead guitarist, keys, violin and vocals, is the band’s organizer, planner, go-to tech guy and a dynamic musician. The band found him on BandMix (Match.com for musical fits). His nickname “The Doctor” reflects his PHD in Engineering.
Kevin (aka Slim and Sassy), bassist and vocalist, is from a musically gifted family which challenged him at a young age to learn “Crimson and Clover” by Tommy James & The Shondells. Kevin rose to the challenge and earned his first bass guitar, a black Ibanez 4-string, and he now manages the band’s social media.
Kris (aka Kristopher Draevn), rhythm guitarist and vocals, and Patrick’s brother-in-law, towers over the rest of the band at 6’ 5”. When asked to join, he agreed to come to practices and see if it was something he really wanted to do. After playing in an acoustic duo in the ‘90s, Kris got serious about playing guitar once he joined 2 Left Missing.
Chris (aka The Behemoth of Bam), the drummer, has played the piano since he was 7 years old. He became interested in drums because he could learn by observing and getting a feel for them.
What’s Next?
2 Left Missing is gearing up for 2022 and you can follow their shows on Facebook. They can also be found on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
Working hard to ensure each show is better than the last, despite the members’ full-time jobs, they do it for the love of music. “We wouldn’t have seen the rapid growth that we’ve had in this short amount of time if it wasn’t for the input, guidance and support of the local music community,” Patrick explained. The encourage-
ment from fans keeps them rocking.
