Art House Films Series: The Picture of Dorian Grey

Need a little reminder that vanity gone Wilde is a dangerous affair? Art House Films Series: The Picture of Dorian Grey tells of a mysterious man who stays forever young, even as a portrait of him grows old and ugly. Oscar Wilde’s macabre novel, adapted for film by Albert Lewin, features one of Angela Lansbury’s first performances. This classic horror film, to be screened just in time for Halloween, has been adapted for the screen eight times since this 1945 version (and five times before it!). The story is theorized to be a twisted secret love letter in a scandalous-for-the-time homosexual courtship.
