United Way Accepting Grant Applications

The United Way of Greater Toledo is currently accepting grants for its upcoming three-year grant cycle.

For the second time, the United Way has been able to offer grants to organizations in an effort to better the community.

Organizations with education, financial stability, health and or housing programs in Lucas, Ottawa or Wood County are invited to apply for funding through the United Way.

Applications for funding opened Jan. 8 and organizations have until Feb. 23 to submit their grant proposals.

These grants are essential in creating brighter futures for our communities.

“Collective Impact is a national best practice model that says if we want to solve these issues sustainably for future generations, we need to help agencies work together,” Wendy Perstue, CEO of the United Way of Greater Toledo said in a
statement. “They need to talk to one another and collaborate toward shared resources and goals. United Way doesn’t just provide funding for these programs, we bring everyone in the community who cares about these issues together to steward better communication and cooperation, and we leverage our role to bring additional resources and relationships to the table to make this happen.”

Organizations can apply for a wide range of funding for their programs.

Funding ranges from $15,000 to $175,000, according to Jill Bunge, Vice President of Impact and Outreach for the United Way of Greater Toledo.

The provided funds have no restrictions on how the organizations use them.

“We believe that the organizations running these programs know best how to use their dollars to make an impact. Once the program is vetted by our community volunteers, it is up to the agency to determine how the funds are used, be that covering expenses like supplies, increasing awareness, or maintaining costs to retain quality staff to ensure there is always someone to work with clients,” Bunge said.

The United Way of Greater Toledo has made applying for these grants easy and accessible. Visit its website for more details on the application process.
