The United Pastors for Social Empowerment’s Social Impact Awards Banquet will be held Monday, Jan. 8, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Georgio’s Cafe International, 426 N Superior St.
The United Pastors for Social Empowerment, a group of pastors, institutions and community members that work to address disparities, crises and inequalities.
“The group is committed to making positive changes in the areas of community health, community education, community development, and community justice,” a spokesperson from the United Pastors for Social Empowerment said.

Each year, the group gives awards to honor exemplary individuals in our community.
“There are many in our community working daily to make a difference,” Rev. Donald Perryman, UPSE’s president, said. “This banquet honors those who embody the spirit of UPSE by standing as beacons of collective wisdom and collaborative action in our community.”
Four community leaders and members are being honored at the Social Impact Awards.
Award recipients include Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Dr. Amerah Archer of Toledo Public Schools, retired Lucas County Children Services Board Eric Walker and social activist Rev. Floyd Rose.
The night will also feature a message from the event’s keynote speaker, author and motivational speaker, and writer of Living Proof From Foster Care to the White House and the NBA, Lucas Daniel Boyce.
“Delivering a message of character, faith and perseverance while sharing the message that everyone can make a positive impact on their generation, regardless of background or upbringing,” the spokesperson said.
