Let the grilling begin

Few sounds better evoke the start of summer than the hissing of a burger on the grill.

Thai-licious

During my assignment trying Toledo’s Thai restaurants, I learned a few things -— that I am completely inept with a pair of chopsticks; that chasing rice around the plate with a fork is silly (I do as the Thais do now, and use the fork to push my rice onto the spoon); and that the delicious heap of slippery and spicy noodles known as pad thai on offer in Toledo’s Thai eateries is as good (or better) than the stuff available in take-out boxes in New York City and Los Angeles (I know because I’ve tried them). Here, TCP offers a guide to the restaurants that give the noodle dish (and other Thai specialties) a good name.

Stroke of Luck

40,000 applied. 1,300 were hired. Meet some of the people cashing in on the job creation promised by the Hollywood Casino, opening May 29th.

Now And Zen

A core tenet of Buddhism is “everyone comes with us.” In other words, personal liberation cannot be attained “until every being comes with you,” said Rev. Karen Do'on Weik of the Buddhist Temple of Toledo.

Reconnect with Mother Earth

There is a place tenderly wrought and rooted in the love and care of the earth and all creation, where Earth Day sentiments are not confined to twenty-four hours but are part of an abiding graciousness and a gentle way of life for the Sisters of St. Francis. Since 1917 they have molded eighty nine acres in Sylvania , which includes the campus of Lourdes University, into a space of spiritual peace, welcoming all people.

A community that grows together

The Toledo Botanical Garden and their Toledo GROWs program are happy to announce the grand opening of the Robert Anderson Urban Agriculture Center on Wednesday, May 30.

Flower Day returns

Is your green thumb itchin' to add some color to your yard?

Pampering the old-fashioned way

One of the only places in life men have drawn the short stick — the salon. While women finish a haircut with a bouncy blow-dry, men walk out with itch-inducing hairs in their collar. It's an experience local business owners Greg Ballmer and Lisa Bachmayer want to completely update.

Here comes the rain

Don’t let a valuable resource go down the drain. The City of Toledo is pairing with Rainbarrels4water.com to offer $75 rain barrels, making them an affordable option for Toledo homeowners.

There goes the sun

Since before recorded history, solar eclipses have inspired awe, reverence and fear.
