All in a day

Love him or hate him (let's be honest, most of us love him), Neil Simon's style of romantic comedy has become a nationwide standard. Case in point: this May, the Village Players will stage Simon's Proposals. The nostalgic play takes place in a single afternoon in 1953. On that day, an ailing father, his estranged wife, their lovesick daughter and their African-American maid all air their dirty romantic laundry. The play will be directed by Wes Skinner, who just came off a triumphant run of Noises Off at The Rep.

Friday, May 9, 8pm. Runs Thursday-Saturday, May 24. $16. The Village Players, 2740 Upton Ave. 419-472-6817. thevillageplayers.org
