A story of a mermaid disfiguring herself for the love of a man isn’t exactly what we have in mind for a positive role model, but regardless, The Little Mermaid has captured the heart of pop culture. Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film, the musical adaption stays in tune with the playful songs and steel pan accents.
