Marketplace Changes December 2023

Carnales Taqueria, which opened in 2022 at 3370 Lagrange St. in Toledo, now has a second location in Temperance, Michigan. With a dine-in area and a wide array of menu options, Carnales Taqueria brings Tijuana style street food favorites to its second location. 7400 Lewis Ave. Unit E.

Harbor opened a new mental healthcare center at 3909 Woodley Road. The center will see patients Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. Harbor, a not-for-profit mental health care agency, has been serving the community for over 100 years providing youth, adults, seniors and families with a full range of mental health, telehealth and substance use disorder treatment services.


Hospice of Northwest Ohio purchased ProMedica’s Ebeid Hospice Residence on the Flower Hospital campus in Sylvania. The 12-bed inpatient facility purchase closed in October, expanding Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s footprint with three regional facilities, including locations at East River Road and South Detroit Avenue. 5200 Harroun Road. 419-824-1444.


Maumee Valley Chocolate and Candy, a locally owned chocolate and retro candy shop at 101 E. Wayne St in downtown Maumee,  is opening a second location in downtown Toledo’s Fort Industry Square. Visit to find all the sweet treats from the original location, including chocolate dipped items, chocolate boxes, popcorn, gummy candies and more.

The Monster Shawarma re-opened its business in October under the new name, Shawarma & More. Previously, the business was known as The Monster Shawarma. Shawarma & More on Facebook.

The Ohio State University has added a Lucas County extension at the Toledo Botanical Garden Metropark. The extension service – operated with county, state, and federal funds and grants – provides programming and educational information on Agricultural and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-ED) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).
