Two Americas: Tell us what’s positive about Trump getting elected

We didn’t see it coming— but I guess we weren’t looking. It took Donald Trump 18 months of being underestimated before he mobilized blue-collar white voters, all mostly forgotten by CNN pundits, unified a movement and got himself elected president.

As he was manipulating the media into hosting his own circus, the left kept arguing about the DNC, bickered over Bernie Sanders and wondered when Queen Hillary would take her throne.

Last night, it never happened. Instead, Trump won a historic battle. Two of the most hated presidential candidates in our nation’s history underwhelmed voters. As votes trickled in, anxious viewers gasped as the count hit a razor-thin margin for the popular vote.

In a stunning, polarizing and significant defeat, Donald J. Trump was elected 45th president of the United States.

So, what now?

Social media is buzzing. People are angry, anxious and posting cathartic, politically-charged messages as quickly as they are deleting them. Is continuing the path of divisiveness that led us here an effective method of instantiating progress?

Instead of fighting, arguing, spouting hate for the other side— you know, the other side that’s full of hate, not us— let’s do something else. Let’s focus on the positive.

We don’t care who you voted for. We don’t care who you supported. We care about tomorrow.

Trump has been elected.
Tell us what’s positive about that.
